CDCP coverage is not the same as private dental insurance, and the amount paid by the plan depends on the service, the CDCP established fee, your eligibility, and your adjusted family net income.
2026–2027 CDCP Update

- The 2026 renewal period closed on June 1, 2026. Members who missed renewal may submit a new application, but a gap in coverage can occur.

Who May Qualify for the CDCP?
To qualify, applicants must meet all current Government of Canada eligibility requirements. In general, you must:
- Not have access to private dental insurance or dental coverage, subject to program rules and limited exceptions.
- Have filed your Canadian tax return for the required year; a spouse or common-law partner must also have filed, where applicable.
- Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000.
- Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
Eligibility is determined by the Government of Canada, not by the dental office.
What Dental Services May Be Covered?

What Is Preauthorization?
Some dental services require preauthorization before treatment. This means the dental provider submits information to the CDCP for review before the service is started.
Approval depends on CDCP clinical criteria, your oral health needs, program limitations and the supporting information submitted. An approved preauthorization does not necessarily mean there will be no patient cost.
