At Alliston Smiles Family Dentistry, we believe everyone deserves a healthy smile—regardless of their financial situation. That’s why we’re proud to be part of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a national program that helps reduce the cost of dental care for eligible Canadians.
What is the CDCP?
The CDCP is a new initiative from the Government of Canada that offers financial assistance for dental care to residents who don’t have private dental insurance and earn a household income below $90,000 per year.
If you qualify, the CDCP can help cover the cost of your dental visits—making it easier to maintain your oral health.
Are You Eligible?
You may be eligible for the CDCP if you meet the following criteria:
- No private dental insurance
- Canadian resident for tax purposes
- You (and your spouse, if applicable) have filed a tax return
- Adjusted family net income is under $90,000

What’s Included in CDCP Coverage?
The CDCP covers a wide range of dental treatments, including:
Peventive & Diagnostic Care- Check-ups and exams
- X-rays
- Cleanings (scaling)
- Fluoride treatments
- Sealants
- Fillings
- Root canal therapy
- Gum disease treatment (non-surgical)
- Dentures (including relines and repairs)
- Crowns
- Certain types of oral surgery
Note: Some services may need pre-approval and may be limited in frequency. Our team will explain everything clearly during your visit.
How Much Will It Cover?
Coverage depends on your income bracket:
- Under $70,000: 100% of eligible fees covered
- $70,000–$79,999: 60% covered
- $80,000–$89,999: 40% covered
Keep in mind that CDCP coverage is based on government-set rates, which may differ from regular dental office fees. Any difference is your responsibility—we’ll be happy to go over the costs with you beforehand.
How to Apply
It’s quick and easy to apply for CDCP coverage through the Government of Canada’s official site. Once you’re approved, you’ll receive a member card that you can bring to your appointments.

A Few Helpful Tips
- Preauthorization: Some treatments may require approval—our team will guide you through the process.
- Other Coverage: Already covered under another government dental program? The CDCP will coordinate to avoid overlap.
- Annual Renewal: Your CDCP benefits must be renewed every year. Make sure to renew by June 1, 2025 to keep your coverage going.
